Manchester City looking to sign Warren Zaire-Emery

Manchester City could push for Warren Zaire-Emery as Pep Guardiola eyes the Paris Saint-Germain youngster for his side.

According to Fichajes, Manchester City are firmly in the race to sign French prodigy Warren Zaire-Emery. The 17-year-old continues to cement an essential place under Luis Enrique, meaning Paris Saint-Germain will make it very tricky for clubs to tempt them into a sale of the teenager.

It’s not every day that prodigious teenagers make it into the first teams of top clubs. In rare instances, a player so good comes into the side and makes a position his own. It has happened more recently at clubs like Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and even Manchester City.

Paris Saint-Germain appears blessed with the phenomenal rise of Warren Zaire-Emery. The French prodigy has made a name under Luis Enrique, but his breakthrough happened during the 2022-23 season under Christoph Galtier.

So far, Enrique has preferred to play Zaire-Emery regularly in his midfield, and the club now view the French prodigy as a critical part of their future. His contract needs immediate attention as it expires in 2025; the Parisians will confidently move forward in keeping him for years to come.

However, the big hurdle for PSG would come from clubs abroad, with several already keeping close tabs on the French prodigy. Real Madrid are thinking about a 2024 move for Zaire-Emery, while the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal are also admirers.

Manchester City also retains an interest in the French prodigy, with Pep Guardiola a massive admirer of the midfielder’s talents. The Treble-winners were searching for midfield options during the summer and did give a brief thought about the 17-year-old as an option.

As PSG consider him an important part of the, not many clubs attempted approaches for the teenager, although that could change next summer. Manchester City, in particular, are now considered firmly in the race for Zaire-Emery, as they could launch a serious move for next season.

Earlier, they had pondered asking for Zaire-Emery as part of any deal PSG would make for Bernardo Silva, and that option remains on their sleeve for the future. Not only will he refresh the average age of Man City’s side, but he could also replace one of their ageing midfielders in the future.

Silva could leave for another club despite signing a new contract recently, while Man City could generally refresh their midfield. They did sign Matheus Nunes in the previous window, but someone like Kalvin Phillips could depart permanently, leaving space for someone like Zaire-Emery to fill the void.
