Everton and Crystal Palace will compete with Liverpool in the race to sign in-demand 20-year-old PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.
According to a report by Football Insider, Everton and Crystal Palace are interested in Johan Bakayoko. The in-demand 20-year-old winger is also a target for Liverpool over a move in the ongoing transfer window. And a move to the Premier League might be on the cards for the young PSV Eindhoven star.
Johan Bakayoko spent most of his formative years in his homeland, passing through the academies at OH Leuven, Club Brugge, KV Mechelen, and Anderlecht before joining PSV Eindhoven in July 2019. Since then, the Belgian international has come leaps and bounds at the Dutch club.
The 20-year-old made his first-team debut a couple of years ago but had his breakthrough at PSV last season. And Bakayoko has started the 2023/24 season strongly, providing four assists in six appearances thus far. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Everton, Crystal Palace, and Liverpool keen on signing him.
The Merseyside club joined the race to sign the in-demand winger earlier this month. The interest in him likely stems from the uncertainties surrounding Mohamed Salah. And while the Egyptian attacker might not leave this summer, Liverpool can target Bakayoko as the talismanic forward’s successor. And they have already submitted an enquiry for him.
As for Everton, they have bolstered their attack this summer by signing Jack Harrison and Arnaut Danjuma. But amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of Demarai Gray and Alex Iwobi, they can do with a wide attacker. Bakayoko has thus emerged as a viable target for Everton.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace will look to end the summer transfer window by signing a long-term replacement Wilfried Zaha. The Ivory Coast international ended his long association with the South London club last month to join Galatasaray. And the in-demand PSV Eindhoven winger can be a solid candidate to fill Zaha’s void at Crystal Palace.
Apart from Liverpool, Everton and Crystal Palace, several other clubs have shown interest in the 20-year-old winger. And it will be interesting to see if the in-demand youngster arrives in England this summer.
