Chelsea prodigy Lewis Hall will join Newcastle United in a loan deal, with the agreement containing a mandatory purchase clause.
According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Lewis Hall will join Newcastle United in a loan-to-buy deal this summer. The Magpies have sealed the agreement with Chelsea, with the package worth £35 million, including add-ons. And the 18-year-old will be Newcastle’s final signing of the ongoing transfer window.
Lewis Hall joined Chelsea from Binfield in 2012 and has come leaps and bounds since then. A versatile footballer, the English under-19 international can play as a midfielder and a left-back. He is also a cricketer in his free time, often playing club cricket. Meanwhile, the youngster made his first-team debut for Chelsea earlier this year in January.
The 18-year-old prodigy has turned out 12 times thus far for Chelsea, chipping in with one assist. And Hall recently signed a new long-term contract with the West London club, who saw a long future for him at Stamford Bridge. But the teenage sensation’s stint with Chelsea will end this summer, with Newcastle United on the verge of signing him.
The young utility man seemed destined to join Crystal Palace on loan this summer. And Chelsea did not consider including a purchase option in the agreement with the Eagles. But Newcastle United swooped in earlier this week before quickly making strides in the race to sign him.

Reports on Thursday suggested Hall was closing in on joining Newcastle United. And the Tyneside outfit will sign him on an initial loan deal, which includes a mandatory purchase clause. The total value of the package is £35 million, including add-ons, with Eddie Howe suggesting the Chelsea prodigy will be Newcastle’s final summer signing.
The Magpies have been busy in the market this summer, signing several players. And Hall will be a long-term left-back solution, although he should start by sharing game time with Dan Burn. Considering Newcastle United also signed Valentino Livramento this summer, the full-back unit is sorted for years.
Meanwhile, the loan-to-buy deal worth £35 million benefits Chelsea, helping them balance the books.
