Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace are close to acquiring the services of 18-year-old Chelsea full-back Lewis Hall on loan.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace are keen on having Lewis Hall in their ranks ahead of next season. The Eagles are looking to bolster their defence and are pushing hard to sign the teenage sensation on loan for the upcoming campaign.

Roy Hodgson returned to action in March to help Crystal Palace survive in the Premier League. The Eagles were not at their best under Patrick Vieira, and they had not won a game in 2023. While they were 12th on the points table, Palace were just three points above the relegation zone.

As a result, they asked the experienced Hodgson to take charge, and he ended up doing a great job at Selhurst Park. The South London club ended up finishing 11th on the points table and were 11 points clear of the drop zone.

Hodgson has signed an extension and is all set to be in charge for the 2023/24 season but there are a lot of things to worry about. While their priority is to replace the players who have left the club, the Eagles are also pushing for the signatures of Lewis Hall.

The English manager is pushing to have the teenager in his ranks as he wants to bolster the left-back position. Tyrick Mitchell is the only genuine left-back in their squad, and they believe adding a new full-back is a must. As a result, they are pushing to sign Hall on loan.

The England under-19 star has come up the ranks at Chelsea, and he has huge potential. However, Hall is unlikely to get enough first-team action at the London club given the players they already have in their ranks. As a result, the Blues are ready to loan the 18-year-old wonderkid out.

Talks between the two clubs are in advanced stages. Final details are being discussed, and the deal is expected to be finalised in the coming days. Meanwhile, Hall is expected to sign a new long-term deal with Chelsea before making the move to Crystal Palace.
