Liverpool are leading the race to sign 27-year-old French defender Benjamin Pavard amid interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.
According to Calciomercatoweb, Liverpool are keen on having Benjamin Pavard in their ranks ahead of next season, and they are leading the race for his signatures. The 27-year-old’s future at the club is uncertain, and he is expected to be on the move.
Pavard joined Bayern back in the summer of 2019 from VfB Stuttgart. He has not looked back since joining the German giants. The French international has featured in a total of 162 matches and has been involved in 24 goals.
He has won numerous titles with Bayern Munich, but it seems his time at the club is about to end. The 27-year-old’s contract at the club runs out in the summer of 2024. And, at this point in time, there are no talks of potential renewal.
With just one year left on his deal, Bayern do not really have many options to work with. They cannot risk losing out on him for free next summer and would be open to the idea of letting him for the right price. Even the player is keen on leaving and trying a new challenge elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Barcelona and Real Madrid are both interested in the 27-year-old’s services. The Catalan giants do not have many options in the right-back position. Jules Kounde, who prefers playing in a more central role, was used as a right-back in the recently-concluded season. And, acquiring Pavard will allow them to use Kounde in his preferred position.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are looking for someone who can provide cover for Dani Carvajal and eventually replace the 31-year-old. While both Barcelona and Real Madrid are keen on having the French international in their ranks, they are behind Liverpool in the race for his signatures.
The Merseyside club are keen on bolstering their defence ahead of next season. Pavard is someone who can play both as a centre-back and a right-back. As a result, Jurgen Klopp believes he could help their cause. And, with just one year left, he will be available on the cheap.
Liverpool have the financial strength to lure him to the club with high wages. And, the belief in England is that the Merseyside club have already prepared a winning proposal to acquire his services. While Liverpool have the finances, they do not have Champions League football for next season. Meanwhile, Barcelona and Real Madrid do have UCL football to offer to the 27-year-old.
