Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is expected to sign a new contract with them in the coming weeks amid interest from Barcelona.
According to a report from Daily Telegraph, Chelsea are confident of reaching an agreement with N’Golo Kante regarding a contract extension. The 31-year-old midfielder will be a free agent at the end of the season amid interest from Barcelona. But the Frenchman has decided to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.
The World Cup winner is one of the best defensive midfielders of his generation. And keeping him at the club could prove to be a wise move. Chelsea have already lost an experienced midfielder in Jorginho, who joined Arsenal during the January transfer window. They cannot afford to lose Kante in the summer now.
Graham Potter is looking to rebuild the side. But he needs to keep hold of the leaders in his dressing room. And recent reports have suggested that Chelsea are hopeful of keeping the veteran beyond the summer.
