Mauricio Pochettino open to Chelsea job

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly open to becoming Chelsea’s new manager as Graham Potter’s position comes under increasing pressure.

According to The Sun, Mauricio Pochettino could open his doors to become Chelsea manager if Graham Potter gets the sack. The English boss has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks following dismal results, as he may only have a few matches to save his job at Stamford Bridge.

Graham Potter desperately needs to overturn his Chelsea side’s dismal form since the restart and revive their fortunes ahead of some challenging games. The Former Brighton manager has come under tremendous pressure following dismal results.

The latest 4-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City has made the Chelsea hierarchy think about Potter’s future as manager. The report suggests the Englishman may have until the end of the month to prove doubters wrong and revive the club’s fortunes.

It also suggests his sacking could arrive sooner if Chelsea lose against Fulham in midweek. While calls to back Potter are widespread, there must be a way to know what new owner Todd Boehly is thinking. On the one hand, there’s the question of whether the former Brighton man will last until the end of the season; Boehly has been on a spending spree to strengthen the squad.

From Chelsea’s perspective, they are providing Potter with all the necessary tools to succeed. Only now, the manager has been able to replicate his excellent showing at Brighton and may have to find a workable formula soon.

Many names are being linked in the media as possible replacement options, including that former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino. Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on the Argentine and could approach him if Potter’s position becomes unattainable.

The report insists Pochettino could remain open to becoming Chelsea’s manager if the opportunity presents itself. There were doubts over this particular link due to the Argentine’s affiliation with Tottenham. Yet, the former PSG boss remains open to the idea and could become a potential successor to Potter.

Pochettino managed Tottenham for over five years and took them to the Champions League Final. He also nearly guided Spurs in title challenges during his time in north London and reportedly has a residence in the city. He knows the demands of the Premier League, so Chelsea are considering the idea.

Since leaving Tottenham, Pochettino has remained linked with Premier League jobs. He did come close to becoming Manchester United’s manager in the summer before the club chose Erik ten Hag as their preferred option. The Argentine is also linked with a return to Spurs if Conte departs, and now Chelsea, to succeed Potter.

If they are serious about Pochettino, Chelsea will have to decide on their managerial position soon, as there are other suitors for Pochettino. For now, Potter remains in the hot seat and will hope for a turnaround in fortunes. The pressure is there as Pochettino waits in the wings as the Blues ponder over a crucial decision.
