Chelsea set to be rejected, Kovacic being eyed by Real Madrid, Torino want to keep an English legend for longer and more transfer news surround the Italian top flight.
Sami Khedira Could Move To The MLS
Since moving to Turin in the summer of 2015, Khedira has made a total of 25 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 5 goals and 4 assists in the process. He spent a large amount of time on the sidelines, missing out largely due to muscle injuries.
This season, he has made 15 appearances in all competitions, scoring 3 goals and getting 2 assists, missing only 3 games this season so far and has firmly established himself as a starter for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.
According to the Italian publication Tuttosport, the 29-year-old World Cup winner has received offers from clubs in the American top flight, which are said to be ‘economically tempting’ and the report states that he has been considering a move away to the United States.
Legendary players like Didier Drogba, David Villa, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Andrea Pirlo and Steven Gerrard have all moved to the MLS and enjoyed varying degrees of success and it seems like an option that the former Stuttgart man could consider.
However, Khedira has a contract which runs until 2019 and given the shortage of depth in the midfield department, it is unlikely that the former Real Madrid midfielder will be allowed to move anywhere unless the Biaconeri get better replacements.
Torino Keen On Extending Joe Hart’s Stay
In what was one of the most shocking transfers of 2016, the legendary Manchester City shot stopper moved to Italy on a season long loan after the arrival of Claudio Bravo and falling out with Pep Guardiola. He has since helped them to a 7th place in the league and has been an integral part of the team, helping them to 6 victories and 4 draws in the league this season.
It hasn’t taken long for him to become a fan favourite amongst the Il Toro faithful. According to a report in Calciomercato, the Italian side are ‘anxious’ to prolong his stay beyond this season. The club hierarchy are reportedly looking to open talks with Manchester City and hopefully reach an agreement which would see the Englishman stay at the club till the summer of 2018.
Borussia Dortmund Interested In AC Milan’s Suso
The former Liverpool youth product has finally begun to live up to his huge potential this season, after a slow start to life in Milan. After arriving at the San Siro in January 2015, he failed to make an impact and establish himself in the first team. The following season, he made only one appearance for the Rossonerri, and was loaned out to Genoa where he made 19 league appearances for them and scored 6 goals and registered 2 assists.
This season under Vincenzo Montella, he has become a key figure at Milan and has already made 13 appearances this season, scoring 4 and assisting 4 in all competitions, which include his fantastic double against fierce rivals Inter Milan.
His performances this campaign have caught the attention of Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, and according to Calciomercato, they have been monitoring his situation. But the 23-year-old is happy at Milan and is hoping for an extension to his current contract which ends in 2019, and the report states that negotiations with the player’s representatives have already begun in an attempt to make the Spaniard one of the highest earners at the club.
AC Milan Still Monitoring Mateo Kovacic
After a disappointing 2015/16 campaign, it was widely expected that Kovacic would leave the Santiago Bernabeu in search of more game time. After making the switch from Inter Milan for a fee of €29 million, he only managed to make 34 appearances over the course of the season, most of which came from the bench.
He was unable to break int0 the Real Madrid squad given the form of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro and he was behind Isco and James Rodriguez in the pecking order. He was linked with a move away to Roma, Juventus and AC Milan in the summer.
Now Transfermarketweb report that the Rossonerri are still tracking the 22-year-old and the report also states that he might be this season, he has managed to make 15 appearances so far, due to injuries to Modric and Casemiro. Kovacic is on a contract with Los Blancos until 2021 and it is unlikely that he would be allowed to leave on a permanent basis in January, with a loan option seeming more likely.
AC Milan To Refuse Chelsea
Chelsea had a well documented hunt for defensive reinforcements in the summer, with the Blues being linked with a number of top class talent across Europe, before eventually settling for Marcos Alonso and David Luiz at the last minute.
One of those names Chelsea pursued was that that of Italian international, Alessio Romagnoli. The Blues had multiple bids rejected for him in the summer, as they looked to prise the versatile youngster away from the San Siro.
According to Calciomercato, the current league leaders are planning to come back for Romagnoli with a bid north of €45 million despite Chelsea’s great run of form. However, the report states that should Chelsea come back with an offer in January, they are set to face rejection.
Milan and Vincenzo Montella do not want to let such an important prospect leave and the manager was the reasons why Chelsea’s summer bids for the 21-year-old were shot down. With his current deal set to expire in 2020, Milan are considering giving him a contract extension, for which negotiations are expected to start in the New Year.
