Ahead of the crucial match against Aston Villa, Liverpool manager Brendon Rodgers has admitted his job is under threat.
A bad result against Aston Villa could well be the end of Brendon Rodger’s time at Liverpool, and the Irishman knows he has to pull a rabbit out of the hat to stay at Anfield.
About his current predicament, Rodgers said: “You need to be at your best every day and when you come into a club of this stature and thrive on that fear. Sure that threat is always there. But it is something that does not frighten me.
.
“It is something that I have an inherent belief in what I do. I think I have shown in my time here that when I work with the players at the level we have had before we have gone on and achieve nearly great things.
“Ia m never complacent enough to think it (my job) never has been.a
The 42-year old rightly acknowledged the players’ efforts and hardwork, and believes they will start afresh. “I hope to be a manager for 20 years. I know it wona t be 20 years here but while I am here I want to fight for the club and the players. They have worked hard and are working harder than ever. We will look to start again.”
Almost everyone including the fans seem to have lost faith in Rodgers’ tactics, but he thinks they need to show a little more patience.
“Keep faith in the team and the players. It’s not about me,”he said. “The players are working tirelessly. It is an honest group. Stay with the team. In this early period it will only take a couple of results to turn it around.”
