Official: Steven Gerrard Will Join LA Galaxy In The Summer

MLS side LA Galaxy have confirmed on their website that the Liverpool midfielder will join them in the summer after his current contract expires.

Gerrard, who had revealed a few days ago that he will depart at end of the season, was quoted saying by the club’s official website, a Ia m very excited to begin the next chapter of my career in the United States with LA Galaxy. The Galaxy are the most successful club in Major League Soccer history and I am looking forward to competing for more championships in the years to come. My discussions with Bruce Arena and Chris Klein were extremely positive and the future of the team is very bright. I am committed to helping the LA Galaxy compete for trophies and to having an impact in Los Angeles and I will give my all for the club. In the meantime, I will continue to give everything for Liverpool for the remainder of this season before joining up with the Galaxy.a

Gerrard made the grade from the Academy to the main team in 1998 and since then he has gone on to make 696 appearances for the club and has won 10 major trophies. He will forever be remembered for his goal in the UEFA Champions League final in 2005 at Istanbul against AC Milan where he inspired a comeback from 3-0 down to 3-3 before going on to win the Cup on Penalties with Liverpool.
