LA Galaxy Manager Bruce Arena Confirms Steven Gerrard Will Arrive In July

LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena has confirmed that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will join the MLS side after his contract expires in the summer.

Gerrard, who had announced a few days ago that this will be his last season at Liverpool, was linked heavily with a move to the MLS after his decision. The American club’s coach was delighted with Gerrard’s choice of destination and revealed that he had no doubt about Gerrard’s quality and how he’ll fit into the team, a Steven Gerrard arrives in July and by then we will certainly have a plan available.

a Hea s a player of quality. Ia m not concerned about how hea s going to fit in with our team.

a We have a club now with a proven history of success. All those things go hand in hand in making LA Galaxy a very attractive team for players such as Steven Gerrard.a

Galaxy’s president Chris Klein described Gerrard as a perfect fit for the club both on and off the field, a We just started thinking in the universe of players that are out there, we want to make a decision on what signifies a Galaxy-designated player.

a When we look at that, Steven Gerrard is the perfect fit with what he brings to us on the field and the character that he has off it.a

Bruce Arena also told the LA Times that the deal is expected to be announced on Wednesday.

LA Galaxy’s recent success made me choose them, says Gerrard

The MLS side have attracted some big name players in the last few years and as a result, they have the experience and expertise that has won them three titles in the last four years.

Having signed David Beckham in 2007, Galaxy have taken some big strides. More recently, they signed former Tottenham and Liverpool striker Robbie Keane and he has had a good impact at the club. Gerrard, who will be reunited with his former teammate, said that the recent success of the MLS side tempted him into a move,

a I think ita s a match made in heaven really. One of the reasons I chose LA Galaxy was because of the success theya ve had recently.

a I want to finish my career very strong. I want to add some medals and trophies to my collection.a

The midfielder will be 35-years old when he joins them, but his impact on the pitch is still very much present. Gerrard put in another inspiring FA Cup display in Liverpool’s last game after scoring two goals to help them beat Wimbledon.
