Everton boss Roberto Martinez has expressed his admiration for Mauricio Pochettinoai??i??s Spurs side and he believes they have got a really talented squad.
Everton and Tottenham both lock horns at the White Hart Lane on Sunday evening in an attempt to enter the top-4 race. Prior to the game, Roberto Martinez spoke to the press about his opponents.
“I really admire this Spurs side. I think they’ve got a really talented squad,” said Martinez.
“They’re a team that are fighting to get into the Champions League positions and I do think that they’re going to be a really dangerous side as the new manager and players are getting used to the way they want to play.
“Every aspect of this Spurs side has been tailor-made to get into the Champions League. It’s just a matter of time and they will get there consistently.”
Everton will be without John Stones, Darron Gibson and Bryan Oviedo who are out with injuries. However, Steven Naismith and Leighton Baines are expected to be a given a chance on the field after suffering from hamstring injuries. Everton will assess midfielder James McCarthy’s hamstring injury, while Gareth Barry and Steven Pienar could return.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino also spoke words of praise about his counterpart Martinez. The former Southampton manager spoke about his friendship and his admiration for the rival manager.

Tottenham have a long list of injuries as they could be without Younes Kaboul, Emmanuel Adebayor, Etienne Capoue, Nacer Chadli, Andros Townsend and Danny Rose. Also missing from the game will be Kyle Naughton who is serving a suspension following his red card at Stoke, while fellow full-back Kyle Walker is still a few weeks away despite having returned to first-team training after abdominal surgery. Federico Fazio is available for selection again after serving his one-match Europa League suspension against Partizan.
Tottenham have lost 4 of their last 5 home games in the league and vice-captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris expressed his concerns ahead of the game against Everton. We have a style that is a lot of short passing and sometimes that can bring opportunities for our opponents.
