Inter Milan have officially sacked Walter Mazzarri and former head coach Roberto Mancini has been appointed in his place.
There had been speculations regarding the future of current Inter Milan coach following a string of poor results and finally club president Erik Thohir has decided to replace Walter Mazzarri with former boss Roberto Mancini.
“FC Internazionale would like to announce that Walter Mazzarri has been relieved of his duties as first team coach,” Inter Milan confirmed in a statement on their official website. “The club would like to thank Mazzarri for the commitment, dedication and professionalism he showed over his 17 months in charge.”
Erik Thohir has made his biggest decision since becoming the President of Inter Milan after deciding to replace Walter Mazzarri with former Manchester City and Galatasaray manager Roberto Mancini. Mancini will sign a two and half year contract with the Nerazzurri.
“Today I made the difficult decision to suspend Walter Mazzarri as Head Coach,” wrote President Erick Thohir in a statement.
“It was a decision that I reached in conjunction with my Management Team. It was a difficult decision because he has been continuously supportive of the direction that we have wanted to take the Club, and he has worked tirelessly and selflessly for Inter, with both belief and passion.”
“I would like to thank him sincerely for his efforts. However, our goal is to regain our rightful position as one of the very top Clubs in Europe and that’s why I am so happy to welcome back Roberto Mancini.”

Mancini, who spent four years at San Siro in his first spell as Coach, winning three Scudetti and two Coppa Italia, will be given a two-and-a-half year contract. It is also believed that his backroom staff is taking shape and it is expected to include Fausto Salsano, who has worked with Mancini in his last three jobs. Former Juventus midfielder David Platt is also reportedly set for involvement, having served as Manciniai??i??s assistant during the latterai??i??s time in Manchester. Former Inter defender Daniele Adani is also suggested as to be included in Manciniai??i??s technical team.
The 49-year-old will take charge of Inter for the first time in six years and his first game will be the Milan derby next Sunday.
