Leeds United are pushing hard to sign Eintracht Frankfurt attacking sensation Jean-Matteo Bahoya in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
Leeds United are targeting Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya in a late move, as they continue to look for a replacement for Wilfried Gnonto, who is on the verge of joining Fiorentina.
According to The Athletic, negotiations between Leeds United and Eintracht Frankfurt are ongoing, with the Premier League club working against the clock to reach an agreement before the 11 pm deadline.
The Whites are keen to resolve the situation quickly, particularly with Gnonto waiting for a decision on his proposed move to Fiorentina and have made it clear he will not leave unless a suitable replacement is secured. The Italy transfer window closes at 7 pm, meaning the situation could develop rapidly over the next couple of hours.
Bahoya has emerged as one of the options Leeds United are considering. The 21-year-old was also the subject of interest from Hull City earlier this window, although he decided against joining the newly promoted side.
The French winger began his senior career with Angers SCO before earning a move to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2024. He impressed during the 2025/26 season with 37 appearances and 8 goal contributions across all competitions in just over 1,600 minutes.
Why are Leeds United interested in Bahoya?
The French attacking prospect’s pace and ability to take on defenders have made him an increasingly valuable attacking option for Eintracht Frankfurt. Although primarily a left winger, Bahoya’s versatility could make him particularly attractive to Leeds United.
He is capable of operating on either flank and can also feature as a number 10 or even up top. That flexibility could be important for Daniel Farke’s side if Gnonto completes his move to Fiorentina. Bahoya would not necessarily be a direct replacement for the Italian international, but his ability to operate from both wings would give Leeds another option in the final third.
Leeds United’s interest also comes at a time when they need to maintain depth across their attacking positions. Losing Gnonto without bringing in another versatile forward would leave the squad short of options during a demanding Premier League campaign.
