Mazraoui joined Manchester United from Bayern Munich in a deal worth €15 million in 2024 and has proven versatile, playing as right-back, centre-back, and left-back, a utility that makes him valuable cover across multiple tactical systems.
However, interest is developing in the background, with AC Milan reportedly ready to explore a late move after previously monitoring the defender earlier in the summer.
Ruben Amorim wants Noussair Mazraoui
Amorim is a major factor in AC Milan’s interest in Mazraoui, as the Portuguese manager wants to work with the versatile defender again. Given the tactical changes Amorim is expected to introduce at San Siro, he would prefer to have a player who is already familiar with his methods and can operate in several defensive positions.
Manchester United are reluctant to lose a useful member of their squad, particularly with little time remaining in the transfer window. Mazraoui’s contract also runs until 2028, giving United a strong negotiating position.
Should Manchester United sell Noussair Mazraoui?
Manchester United are not in a strong position to consider selling Mazraoui at this stage, as his departure could result in a significant loss of quality and depth. The club are looking to sign a left-back, with Alejandro Balde the latest name linked with a move to Old Trafford.
United have also been pursuing other targets, including Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall, who has reportedly emerged as their preferred option. For that reason, United should not entertain the idea of selling Mazraoui at this stage unless they have a suitable replacement lined up. AC Milan would also need to submit an offer that reflects his importance and current value to the club. Mazraoui remains a valuable and versatile defender, and Manchester United may ultimately decide that keeping him is more beneficial than accepting a late bid from Milan.
