Manchester City make derisory offer to sign Allan Elias, ready to offer bigger bid

Manchester City have seen their opening approach for Palmeiras attacker Allan Elias rejected, but the Premier League giants are preparing to return with an improved proposal.

Manchester City have identified the 22-year-old as a major target following Savinho’s move to Tottenham Hotspur and are determined to test Palmeiras’ resolve before the transfer window closes.

According to ESPN Brazil, City did not submit a formal opening bid but communicated figures worth €25 million guaranteed plus another €5 million in potential bonuses. Palmeiras immediately rejected those terms and have made it clear they have little interest in losing one of Abel Ferreira’s most important players.

Despite that initial setback, City remain firmly interested and are expected to make another approach with a significantly improved financial package. The City Football Group are keen to secure Allan immediately rather than negotiate a deal for a future window, with the Brazilian viewed internally as an ideal replacement for Savinho.

Manchester City’s sale of Savinho to Tottenham has also strengthened their financial position and created an obvious vacancy in the attacking department. Their next proposal is expected to contain a larger guaranteed fee alongside performance-related bonuses designed to tempt Palmeiras into negotiations.

However, the Brazilian club are demanding a substantial premium as Allan has a €100 million release clause, although Palmeiras are understood to have set a practical minimum valuation of around €40 million before they would even consider sanctioning his departure. With his importance to the first team and the window approaching its conclusion, Palmeiras are prepared to take a hard line.

Palmeiras determined to keep Allan

Allan has developed into a trusted member of Ferreira’s squad and offers considerable versatility, operating both on the right flank and further forward. He has registered six goals and five assists in 41 appearances during 2026, performances which have also attracted attention from elsewhere in Europe.

Napoli, Newcastle United and Aston Villa have all shown interest in recent months, although none have progressed sufficiently far to challenge City at this stage. Palmeiras are looking to generate additional transfer income through fringe and loaned players instead of sacrificing essential first-team stars.

City’s opening €25 million plus €5 million approach was never likely to convince Palmeiras given their determination to keep Allan. The important development is that the Citizens have not walked away.

Savinho’s departure gives them both a need and greater financial flexibility to return with a stronger offer. Palmeiras’s €40 million threshold now provides a clearer benchmark. If Manchester City are serious about making Allan their Savinho replacement, their next bid will need to move considerably closer to it.
