Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reportedly has no interest in sanctioning the departure of 22-year-old Brazilian international Savinho in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Manchester City winger Savinho continues to face an uncertain future at the Etihad ahead of the 2026/27 season. While the 22-year-old Manchester City winger remains a target for Tottenham Hotspur, Pep Guardiola is set to block his departure in the coming months.
With regular game time and starts being elusive this season, there have been suggestions that a summer departure may be on the cards for the South American attacker. However, Tottenham must look elsewhere for a wide attacker for a second successive summer, as Guardiola also blocked his exit last year.
How has Savinho fared at Manchester City?
Savinho has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Manchester City from Troyes in a deal worth €40 million in July 2024. The 22-year-old winger’s creative output has impressive since his debut season, but his stock has fallen in the 2025/26 campaign thus far.
The Brazilian winger has managed only 1,230 minutes of game time across 30 appearances in all competitions this term, chipping in with three goals and three assists. However, the player’s stock remains high, with Tottenham Hotspur among the prospective suitors vying for his signature this year.
Will Tottenham return with a bid this summer?
Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sign Savinho last summer, but a deal did not materialise. The continued interest makes sense, as the Lilywhites have been combing the market for a wide attacker since parting ways with Son Heung-min. Additionally, Richarlison faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after enduring a tumultuous tenure with the North London club.
Several candidates, including Christian Pulisic, have thus emerged on Tottenham’s wishlist, with the Manchester City winger also being a viable target. However, the latest report has brought bad news for the relegation-threatened Premier League club due to Guardiola’s insistence on keeping him at the Etihad.
While recent reports have claimed that Savinho has been contemplating forcing a summer move away from Manchester City, a departure may not come to fruition if Guardiola has his way. However, the former Barcelona manager has regularly insisted that he won’t keep wantaway players at the Etihad against their wishes. So, the 22-year-old Brazilian international’s stance remains key.
