West Ham United reportedly want €30 million to sanction the departure of their defensive mainstay, Konstantinos Mavropanos.
According to Sebastien Vidal, West Ham United are reluctant to let go of Konstantinos Mavropanos, who seems keen on a change of scenery. The Hammers have slapped a massive price tag of €30 million on the Greek international, who is valued well below that.
While there is significant interest in his services from the Bundesliga, it looks unlikely that any Bundesliga club would be willing to fork out that big a fee to sign the 28-year-old centre-back.
Things might not have worked out for Mavropanos at Arsenal, but he revived himself at VfB Stuttgart before making the move to West Ham in the summer of 2023. He has gone on to establish himself as a key figure in their setup.
His strong physical presence and great ball-playing ability come in very handy for the Hammers. The East London club are currently fighting for survival, and they have managed to come out of the drop zone on the back of some impressive results in the recent past, and Mavropanos has played a big part in those games.
Mavropanos is unlikely to leave West Ham
Konstantinos Mavropanos has been in fine form of late, and he even bagged a brace against Wolves in their 4-0 win last time out. While the 28-year-old remains an integral part of their plans, there has been a lot of tension in the background, on the back of which he is pushing for an exit.
Mavropanos wants a new challenge; a change of scenery. There is interest from the Bundesliga; reports have suggested that Borussia Dortmund are keen, as they look for a Niklas Sule replacement.
But West Ham do not seem willing to negotiate his departure; they want a minimum of €30 million, which is way above his market value. While interest in his services is real, it will be interesting to see if any club is willing to meet those demands.
