Konstantinos Mavropanos set to leave West Ham United this summer

West Ham United are ready to part ways with defensive mainstay Konstantinos Mavropanos, amidst interest from Borussia Dortmund.

Konstantinos Mavropanos has been one of the standout performers for West Ham United, who are fighting for survival at this point. While he remains one of the most important players on their roster, his future is up in the air.

According to Florian Plettenberg, the Greek international is set to leave the East London club this summer, as he seeks a new challenge. Since he is already in his prime, Mavropanos wants to play for a bigger club, and Borussia Dortmund seem interested in the 28-year-old.

While things did not work out for him at Arsenal, Konstantinos Mavropanos revived himself at VfB Stuttgart before returning to England to join the Hammers in the summer of 2023. Over the years, he has featured in 97 matches for the London club and has even bagged four goals.

The 28-year-old has been a rock at the back, and his consistent performances have attracted a lot of interest. The Hammers are currently fighting hard to survive the drop. They have managed to establish a top point lead over 18th-placed Tottenham, and Mavropanos has played a big part in it.

Borussia Dortmund interested in Mavropanos

Konstantinos Mavropanos has delivered consistently over the past few months, and it has resulted in serious interest from rival clubs in England and clubs in Germany. Borussia Dortmund are one of the clubs that are keen on having him in their ranks.

With Niklas Sule leaving the Bundesliga club after the end of the season, Niko Kovac wants to bring in a world-class defender to ensure his squad will have enough quality and depth at the back. Mavropanos could be a great fit for their setup, and they have internally discussed his name.

However, securing his services won’t be easy, as the Hammers won’t let him leave on the cheap. With his contract running until 2028, West Ham are in complete control of his future and will demand a significant fee to let him go. A potential deal looks very difficult for Dortmund to pull off.
