Ligue 1 club Marseille will reportedly look to sign 19-year-old Moroccan youth international Adam Aznou from Everton in the summer transfer window.
A report by TEAMtalk has revealed that Adam Aznou faces an uncertain future at Everton heading into the summer transfer window. The 19-year-old left-back is the subject of interest from Marseille, with the Ligue 1 giants reviving their charge for the youngster after failing to secure his services in the winter transfer window.
The latest report has revealed that Les Phoceens “maintain strong interest” in the young left-back and “could attempt to lure him from Merseyside” in the upcoming transfer window. So, Everton will have a crucial decision to make after “citing insufficient squad depth” as the reason for blocking a January departure.
Adam Aznou and his career so far
Adam Aznou has struggled to make his mark since joining Everton from Bayern Munich in a deal worth €9 million in the summer transfer window. Born in Barcelona, the youngster spent most of his formative years in Spain, passing through the academies at CE Escola Collblanc Torrassac, Sistrells, CF Damm, and FC Barcelona. However, the 19-year-old graduated from the youth division at Bayern Munich.
The Moroccan youth international also spent the second half of the 2024/25 season with Real Valladolid to earn some first-team experience. However, Aznou has managed only 34 minutes of game time in his solitary appearance for Everton thus far. Fitness issues plagued him in the first half of the 2025/26 campaign, but the lack of game time may lead to a summer departure.
What next?
Reports earlier this year claimed that Everton considered sanctioning a loan exit for Adam Aznou in the winter transfer window. However, a January departure did not materialise despite Marseille’s push for a deal, as the Toffees were concerned about their squad depth for the second half of the 2025/26 season.
Marseille’s continued interest in Aznou is understandable, as Emerson Palmieri is the only recognised left-back in Habib Beye’s squad. With the Italian full-back on the wrong side of 30, the Ligue 1 outfit must sign a player who can become a long-term solution on the left flank.
The latest report has brought good news for Marseille, as Aznou is open to leaving Everton for “a fresh challenge” this summer. Meanwhile, Everton may sanction the 19-year-old Moroccan youth international’s departure, as they are scouring the market for a left-back. Recent reports have linked the Merseyside club with Matt Targett, and his arrival may open the door for Aznou’s exit.
