Anthony Gordon will reportedly prefer moving to London when he leaves Newcastle United, thus handing Arsenal an advantage in the battle for his signature.
According to a report by The Sun, Anthony Gordon is the subject of interest from Arsenal. Bayern Munich and Liverpool are also keen on signing the Newcastle United forward in the summer transfer window. However, the Gunners are best-placed to sign the 25-year-old winger, as he wants to “move to London over any other city” as his next destination.
How has Anthony Gordon fared at Newcastle United so far?
Anthony Gordon has established himself as one of the best wingers in the Premier League since joining Newcastle United from Everton in January 2023. While the Englishman took some time to become a pivotal figure for the Tyneside outfit, he has not looked back since becoming a productive attacker.
The 25-year-old has endured a topsy-turvy ride this season, struggling to make his mark in the Premier League while being one of the most productive players in the UEFA Champions League. So, he has managed a solid tally of 17 goals and five assists in 46 outings in all competitions thus far. Meanwhile, Gordon’s exploits have piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs, with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich interested in him.
A man in demand
Bayern Munich recently joined the race to sign the English international. The Bavarian club’s interest is understandable, as Serge Gnabry faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena. Additionally, Gordon’s versatility makes him an appealing target, as he can be an alternative to Luis Diaz, Michael Olise, and Harry Kane, allowing Vincent Kompany to rotate his troops efficiently.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in Anthony Gordon makes sense. The Reds are scouring the market for a productive wide attacker, as Mohamed Salah will depart from Anfield after the 2025/26 season. So, the Reds need someone who often scores goals for fun, making Gordon a viable target.
As for Arsenal, the Gunners want more productivity from the left flank, as Gabriel Martinelli has not been consistent in recent seasons, managing only one goal in the Premier League this term. Additionally, Leandro Trossard is on the wrong side of 30. So, Gordon is an option worth considering.
With Gordon keen on moving to London when he leaves Newcastle United, a summer move to Arsenal is on the cards. The Premier League table-toppers can also offer the 25-year-old English international the opportunity to compete for trophies, having gone deep in every tournament in recent seasons.
