Everton will reportedly look to sign 30-year-old English international Ivan Toney from Al-Ahli in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Al-Ahli centre-forward Ivan Toney is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing a striker ahead of the 2026/27 season.
A summer move may be possible, as the Englishman is open to returning to the Premier League in the upcoming transfer window. However, the report has suggested that Toney’s wages “are set to present an obstacle for any hope of a deal” this summer, although “that is unlikely to prevent the Merseysiders from trying” in the coming months.
How has Ivan Toney fared in the Saudi Pro League so far?
Ivan Toney has been one of the best players in the Saudi Pro League since joining Al-Ahli from Brentford in a surprise deal in August 2024. The 30-year-old shocked many with his decision to move to the Saudi Pro League, having been among the finest strikers in the Premier League for several years. However, he hit the ground running at the club and has gone from strength to strength in the last two seasons.
Toney has been excellent in the 2025/26 season thus far, scoring 36 goals and providing ten assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, the English striker’s exploits have provoked the interest of several well-known clubs. Everton will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature this year.
Premier League return on the horizon?
Ivan Toney has been on Everton’s wishlist for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, as the Toffees are scouring the market for a prolific striker. While Beto and Thierno Barry have shown flashes of brilliance this season, they have not been consistent enough to lead Everton into a campaign with four competitions.
With Everton having lofty aspirations of competing in a European competition next season, they must dip into the market for a productive centre-forward. Several candidates, including Flaco Lopez, have thus emerged on Everton’s wishlist, with Toney also a viable target.
While Toney’s wages may pose a problem for the Merseyside outfit, they remain undeterred in the battle for the 30-year-old Englishman’s signature. With the former Brentford striker ready to return to the Premier League, Everton will hope he takes a pay cut to move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
