Manchester City will reportedly look to sign 28-year-old French international Ousmane Dembele from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Ousmane Dembele is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Citizens are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 28-year-old Paris Saint-Germain forward has emerged as a target for them.
The latest report has revealed that Manchester City’s sporting director, Hugo Viana, recently met Moussa Sissoko, with the two parties holding informal talks. While formal negotiations have not begun, the approach “serves to explore possible future scenarios” heading into the summer transfer window.
How has Ousmane Dembele fared at PSG so far?
Ousmane Dembele has established himself as the world’s best player since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona in a shock deal in August 2023. The Frenchman has made significant progress in the last 30 months, overcoming inconsistent form and off-the-field issues to become a pivotal figure for Les Parisiens.
The 28-year-old reached the pinnacle of his career last year by winning the Ballon d’Or. While fitness issues have plagued the French international this season, he still has a solid record of 12 goals and seven assists in 27 outings thus far in the 2025/26 season. Meanwhile, Dembele’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Manchester City.
Premier League adventure on the horizon?
Manchester City’s interest in Ousmane Dembele makes sense. The Citizens are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window, as Pep Guardiola wants more firepower in the final third next season.
Manchester City’s overdependence on Erling Haaland has been detrimental to the team’s fortunes, as other players have not contributed enough in the final third. Several candidates, including Jesus Rodriguez, have thus emerged on Manchester City’s wishlist, with Dembele also a viable target. The Premier League club’s sporting director, Hugo Viana, recently met Moussa Sissoko, the Frenchman’s agent.
While formal negotiations have not begun, the approach “serves to explore possible future scenarios” heading into the summer transfer window. However, Manchester City will not be alone in the battle for Dembele’s signature, as recent reports have also linked the 28-year-old French international with other Premier League giants, including Arsenal.
