Barcelona better-placed than Chelsea, Tottenham in Fisnik Asllani chase

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona are ahead of Chelsea and Tottenham in their pursuit of Kosovo attacking sensation Fisnik Asllani.

Fisnik Asllani is expected to be on the move in the upcoming summer transfer window. His impressive rise at Hoffenheim has placed him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, who are set to battle it out for his signature.

Barcelona, Chelsea and Tottenham have all been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old ahead of a potential transfer. According to a report from Fichajes, the Catalan giants are believed to be best-placed to sign the young striker.

Asllani joined Hoffenheim from Union Berlin back in 2020 on a free transfer, and he hasn’t looked back since. He got promoted to their first team at the start of 2022, then had a couple of successful loan spells away from the club.

After returning to the club last summer, he was handed a new long-term deal and has now managed to establish himself as a key figure in the team. He has been involved in 25 games across competitions and has contributed towards 15 goals (8 goals, 7 assists).

His performances haven’t gone unnoticed, and his link-up play in particular has placed him on the radar of Barcelona. Chelsea and Tottenham are also keen on his signature and have been constantly making enquiries about the 23-year-old.

With Liam Delap not having the desired impact, the Blues are now looking to bet on Asllani, who is a perfect fit for their youth-centric project. Meanwhile, Tottenham are also in the market for a new striker, with Dominic Solanke struggling to stay fit and Randal Kolo Muani not firing.

Barcelona are front-runners to sign Asllani

However, the Catalan giants are believed to be best-placed to sign the youngster, who has a €30 million release clause. While Hoffenheim are reluctant to let him leave, they won’t be able to stand in his way. The player has publicly stated that he dreams of playing for Barcelona, which gives them the edge over the Premier League clubs.

Given their financial situation, he is a cost-effective option to replace Robert Lewandowski, who is in the final phase of his career and could end up leaving this summer. However, they still need to balance their books before they can trigger his release. While financially the English clubs are in a much better position, the players’ desire is what gives Barcelona the edge.
