Michael Carrick’s Manchester United will have to fork out €100 million to sign the defensive duo of Federico Dimarco and Pierre Kalulu.
Michael Carrick has done wonders for the Red Devils. Since taking charge last month, he has led them in a total of five league games. Not only are they unbeaten, but United have also won four of those games. While things are going great for them at this point, they do have plans in place to further bolster their squad next season.
The Red Devils want to add more quality to their backline. They want to bring in world-class stars to help their cause. United have identified Federico Dimarco and Pierre Kalulu as priority targets for the summer. According to a report from Calciomercato, the Manchester-based giants will have to fork out €100 million to sign Dimarco and Kalulu.
United are keen on reinforcing their backline
The Red Devils want to bring in a new left-back who can contribute on either end of the pitch. They consider Dimarco just the perfect fit for their setup. He might not be young, but the 28-year-old certainly has the experience. More importantly, he is someone who can push for a starting spot from the get-go.
United have been keeping tabs on the Inter full-back for months. Since he will only have a year left on his deal next summer, the Red Devils see this as a great opportunity. Meanwhile, they also seek more quality in the heart of the defence.
Carrick’s team lack depth in that position, and with Harry Maguire’s future uncertain, United are looking to sign Juventus defensive mainstay Pierre Kalulu. The 25-year-old joined Juventus from AC Milan in the summer of 2024. It was an initial loan deal, but the move has been made permanent thanks to his performances.
The French international has been involved in a total of 34 matches and has even contributed towards seven goals. While his contract also runs until 2029, United are looking to bring him to Old Trafford.
United will have to break the bank
United have been scouting the Inter Milan and Juventus defenders for some time now. They are keen on signing them, and it will certainly require a massive financial outlay. With Inter squaring up against Juventus on Saturday night, scouts from both English clubs are expected to be in the stands of San Siro keeping tabs on them.
The report suggests it will take around €100 million to sign the duo. Dimarco is amongst the best full-backs around the world, and a potential transfer could cost as much as €60 million. Meanwhile, Juventus might look for around €40-€45 million to sanction the departure of their French defensive sensation.
