A host of clubs are tracking the development of Chelsea’s teenage full-back talent, Genesis Antwi, with a January move being ruled out.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Genesis Antwi is attracting plenty of interest from European giants this month, with Marseille, OGC Nice, and AS Roma tracking his progress. Chelsea have effectively ruled out a January move, but there is a chance he could be let go in the summer if a solid offer arrives.
Chelsea have consistently produced some top talents through their Cobham academy over the years, and continue to do so in the present day. Going by the history of their academy, they have some notable players across the board in the Premier League, either playing for the main team or elsewhere at another club.
Marc Guehi, Valentino Livramento, Lewis Hall, and Mason Mount are some of the names at the top of the list, but there are many more around. While they have spent heavily on securing young talents from elsewhere, Cobham continues to produce top talents internally.
One of those is Genesis Antwi, the 18-year-old Chelsea defensive sensation, who plays as a right back in the Under-21 side. He has been impressing with his performances there, which has surprisingly attracted the interest from some European sides, including those from Italy and France.
Marseille and OGC Nice are vying for the 18-year-old Chelsea defensive sensation, while AS Roma also remain keen to find an opportunity to sign them. Neither of those European sides might see him as a starter for their first team side, but at least they might give him a run in the senior squad.
Chelsea to sell Genesis Antwi?
Chelsea have an abundance of talent cropping out of Cobham, and one might expect them to accept a sale of Antwi. However, the Blues are apprehensive at this moment to part ways with the teenager as they view him as a key part of the Under-21 side this term.
Hence, those interested sides like AS Roma, Marseille and OGC Nice are expected to keep track of the 18-year-old Chelsea defensive sensation’s development and situation at Chelsea. Hence, a summer move might be on the cards, given that Antwi may not have an immediate pathway to the Chelsea first team at the moment, given the presence of Malo Gusto, Josh Acheampong, and Reece James in the right-back roles.
