Bayer Leverkusen eyeing Filip Jorgensen swoop

German giants Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly keen on acquiring the services of Chelsea goalkeepinger Filip Jorgensen.

Following an injury to Mark Flekken, Bayer Leverkusen have been forced to look for a new goalkeeper in the ongoing winter transfer window. According to Kicker via Sport Witness, Chelsea’s Filip Jorgensen is one of the names on their wishlist. They are looking to raid the London club for the young Danish shot-stopper.

Jorgensen came up the ranks at Villarreal and made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team. Following his impressive rise, Chelsea acquired his services in the summer of 2024 for €24.5 million.

In his debut campaign, he was involved in a total of 24 matches and ended up keeping 10 clean sheets. While he has made the most out of his limited opportunities, he remains a backup for Robert Sanchez at Stamford Bridge.

So far, he has featured in eight matches this term, with just two appearances in the English top flight. Given the lack of minutes, multiple top clubs are looking to prise the 23-year-old away from Chelsea.

Bayer Leverkusen are pushing for Jorgensen

Bayer Leverkusen have emerged as a potential destination. The German giants suffered a massive blow last weekend, as their number one, Mark Flekken, picked up a serious injury in their 2-0 defeat to TSG 1899. Janis Blaswich took his place in goal.

While he is a valuable cover, Flekken is expected to be out for an extended period. As a result, the German club have been forced to look for a new shot-stopper, and they consider Jorgensen an ideal fit for their club.

The 23-year-old Danish international has all the qualities needed to play at the highest level, and he can certainly help out the German club, who are pushing hard to secure a Champions League spot.

They are in talks to sign the Chelsea shot-stopper, but they do have other options on their radar, in case they fail to land the Danish goalkeeper.
