Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly compete with Chelsea in the race to sign 26-year-old Serbian international Mile Svilar from Serie A club AS Roma.
According to a report by Italian outlet AS Roma Live, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Mile Svilar. The AS Roma goalkeeper is also a target for Chelsea, with the West London club also vying for his signature. Meanwhile, the Serie A club will demand around €70 million to part ways with the 26-year-old Belgium-born shot-stopper.
How has Mile Svilar fared in Serie A?
Mile Svilar has established himself as one of the most dependable goalkeepers in Serie A since joining AS Roma from SL Benfica in July 2022. The 26-year-old has made considerable progress in the last three years, becoming the first-choice goalkeeper for the Giallorossi.
The Serbian international has made over 100 appearances for AS Roma thus far while keeping 41 clean sheets and conceding 105 goals. Meanwhile, Svilar’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature this year.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Chelsea may dip into the market for a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window, as Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen have not been dependable between the sticks. Additionally, the latter is pushing to leave the West London club amid his links with Besiktas. So, Svilar has emerged as a viable target for Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Mile Svilar has been on Manchester United’s radar for a long time. The continued interest is surprising, as Senne Lammens has been solid since arriving at Old Trafford on deadline day of the summer transfer window. However, Altay Bayindir may leave Manchester United in the summer, and the Red Devils may need a replacement.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, Guglielmo Vicario’s long-term future is uncertain amid his links with Inter Milan. Recent reports have claimed that the Italian goalkeeper is keen on returning to Serie A this year, and Tottenham may need a long-term replacement. Svilar has thus emerged as a viable target for the North London club.
Meanwhile, Svilar will cost a significant sum, as AS Roma will demand around €70 million to part ways with him this year. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 26-year-old Serbian international amid the €70 million-rated goalkeeper’s links with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham.
