Yan Diomande excited by Tottenham links, talks advance

RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande reportedly finds the opportunity to join Tottenham Hotspur attractive amid the 19-year-old Ivorian winger’s links with Chelsea and Liverpool.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Yan Diomande is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. Chelsea and Liverpool are also keen on signing the RB Leipzig attacking sensation next year. However, the Ivory Coast international finds the opportunity to join Tottenham attractive, and the Lilywhites have recently advanced talks with his entourage as they look for a replacement for Brennan Johnson.

Who is Yan Diomande?

Yan Diomande has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the Bundesliga since joining RB Leipzig from CD Leganes this past summer. A native of Abidjan, the Ivorian winger spent most of his formative years thus far in the USA before moving to Spain earlier this year.

However, Diomande’s stint with Leganes ended after only six months, and he has been excellent for RB Leipzig. The 19-year-old has been one of the most productive attackers for the Bundesliga club this season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 16 outings in all competitions thus far. Meanwhile, his progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several bigwigs, including Liverpool, Tottenham, and Chelsea.

A man in demand

It is hardly surprising that the Ivory Coast youth international is a target for Chelsea. The Blues never waste any opportunity to sign a promising prospect, even though they always have a stacked offensive unit. Diomande has thus emerged as a viable target, with Chelsea eyeing him as a long-term solution on the flanks.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in Yan Diomande makes sense. The Reds are combing the market for a versatile wide attacker amid uncertainties surrounding Mohamed Salah’s long-term future. Additionally, Luis Diaz’s departure has hampered Liverpool’s output in the final third, and Diomande can be a long-term like-for-like replacement at the Merseyside club.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, the Lilywhites are still searching for a long-term heir to Son Heung-min’s position despite parting ways with the veteran South Korean attacker several months ago. Additionally, they have sanctioned Brennan Johnson’s departure, and he may join Crystal Palace soon. So, Diomande is a viable target for Tottenham.

The latest report has revealed that the 19-year-old Ivorian winger finds the opportunity to join Tottenham as attractive, with the North London outfit advancing talks with his representatives. So, a deal may be on the cards, and it will be interesting to see how Chelsea and Liverpool respond.
