Chelsea are all set to battle multiple top clubs in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund defensive sensation Almugera Kabar.
According to a report from BILD, Chelsea are all set to battle Brentford and HSV Hamburg in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund full-back Almugera Kabar. Since the teenager does not have an important role in the team under Niko Kovac, he could be on the move in January.
Kabar joined Borussia Dortmund’s youth setup back in 2019, and he got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2024. While the youngster has been a part of Kovac’s team for almost 18 months, he has only featured in five matches so far.
While people at the club do rate the 19-year-old quite highly, he has not made a single appearance this season, and it has resulted in a lot of talk about his future. Almugera Kabar’s contract at Dortmund runs until the summer of 2028, but there are high chances of him leaving the club in the upcoming transfer window.
Kabar could switch clubs in January
HSV Hamburg, Brentford and Chelsea have emerged as potential destinations for the German youth international. While Hamburg’s priority is to sign a new striker, they also want to bring in a left-back in the winter window, and they do admire Almugera Kabar a lot.
They have already established contact with Borussia Dortmund to learn more about a potential transfer. Since the teenage prospect is not an important part of Kovac’s plans, they are confident about securing his services.
Meanwhile, Brentford have been linked with the 19-year-old since September. The Bees are looking to sign him with an eye on the future, and since Rico Henry is the only out-and-out left-back option in their squad.
However, both clubs are set to face competition from Chelsea, who are constantly on the lookout for young players with massive potential. They consider Kabar an ideal fit for their long-term plans.
While Brentford and Chelsea have the edge when it comes to finances, Hamburg might still end up winning the race for him as they can hand him a more important role in their team. Meanwhile, the youngster has also been a target for other European bigwigs over the years.
