Leeds United, West Ham United in transfer tussle in Matias Fernandez-Pardo

Leeds United and West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing 20-year-old Spanish winger Matias Fernandez-Pardo from Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille.

According to an update by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Leeds United and West Ham United are interested in Matias Fernandez-Pardo. The two Premier League clubs are keen on reinforcing their offensive units by signing a wide attacker in the winter transfer window. So, the 20-year-old LOSC Lille winger has emerged as a target for them.

However, Leeds United and West Ham are not the only clubs keen on signing the Spaniard from the Ligue 1 club, as Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also interested in him, with the latter considering a bid. Meanwhile, Fernandez-Pardo is eager to move to the Premier League.

Who is Matias Fernandez-Pardo?

Matias Fernandez-Pardo has established himself as one of the most exciting young attackers in Ligue 1 since joining LOSC Lille from KAA Gent in July 2024. Born in Brussels to a Spanish father and an Italian mother, the 20-year-old winger spent most of his formative years in Belgium, passing through the academies at RSC Anderlecht, KV Mechelen, and Lille before graduating from the youth division at KAA Gent.

The Spanish winger has made nearly 50 appearances thus far for LOSC Lille while chipping in with six goals and eight assists. Meanwhile, Fernandez-Pardo represented Belgium until the under-19 level before picking Spain for further age-group divisions. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including Leeds United and West Ham United.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Leeds United’s interest in Matias Fernandez-Pardo is understandable. The Whites are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the winter transfer window, as Daniel Farke wants more firepower in the final third. Additionally, Wilfried Gnonto’s long-term future at Elland Road is uncertain. So, the LOSC Lille winger is a viable target for Leeds United.

As for West Ham United, the Hammers will dip into the market for offensive reinforcement in the winter transfer window. With Jarrod Bowen having too much burden on his shoulders for productivity in the final third, Nuno Espirito Santo wants better support for the English attacker. So, Fernandez-Pardo is an option worth considering for West Ham.

Apart from Leeds United and West Ham, Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also keen on signing the 20-year-old Spaniard. Meanwhile, the youngster is keen on moving to the Premier League. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Fernandez-Pardo.
