Manchester United are all set to battle multiple top clubs from across Europe in their pursuit of AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Mike Maignan’s future has been a big talking point for months. The French shot-stopper’s contract at AC Milan is running out, and he could be available for free next summer. As a result, some of the biggest clubs in Europe are keeping tabs on his future.

According to Ekrem Konur, Manchester United are one of the clubs that are interested in acquiring his services. The Red Devils are all set to battle Chelsea, PSG, Juventus, and Inter Milan in their pursuit of the 30-year-old goalkeeper.

While things didn’t work out for Maignan at PSG back in the day, he revived his career at LOSC Lille and has only gone from strength to strength since joining Milan in the summer of 2021. While he remains an undisputed number one at the Italian club, his future is up in the air because of his contract situation.

Multiple European giants want Maignan

Milan are ready to offer him a new deal, and they are pushing hard to convince him to continue at the club. However, he doesn’t seem to be keen on putting pen to paper. His departure looks almost certain, and Manchester United, Chelsea, PSG, Juventus and Inter Milan are ready to make the most out of it.

Despite having signed Lucas Chevalier in the summer, PSG are still interested in re-signing Maignan, as they look for a more experienced option at the back. Even Juventus and Inter Milan want to strengthen the goalkeeping position, and given the kind of work he has done for AC Milan, they would love to have the French goalkeeper in their ranks.

Manchester United are looking to beat the competition

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also in the market for a new goalkeeper as they are not convinced about Filip Jorgensen or Robert Sanchez being their preferred choice in goal. Manchester United are set to rival all four clubs for Maignan’s signature.

The Red Devils were in the market for a goalkeeper in the summer, and they were on the verge of signing Emiliano Martínez. However, they opted for Senne Lammens at the end. While the 23-year-old has done a great job so far, United feel Maignan could be an upgrade in that position.

His experience and leadership could come in handy, and it could help Lammens in his development as well. With all five clubs closely monitoring his situation, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top at the end.
