Leeds United ready to sanction Harry Gray loan exit in January

Leeds United are ready to send Harry Gray on loan to help him develop into a first-team star, with EFL sides interested.

According to Football Insider, Leeds United are willing to sanction a loan exit for Harry Gray. The teenage striker needs regular first-team minutes to aid his development, with a few EFL clubs keen to take him in the January window.

Leeds United believe Harry Gray will be a star in the future, and they are invested in the player’s growth. The Whites are currently unable to offer first-team opportunities despite his bright performances with the Under-21 side, where he has been prolific.

Gray made his Leeds United first team league debut at the latter stages of the 2024/25 Championship season in the 6-0 home win over Stoke City, playing about four minutes of action. The pressures of the Premier League in terms of what Daniel Farke’s side wants to achieve this term are the factor that is preventing the 17-year-old wonderkid from getting minutes.

Leeds United are aware of the big interest from some of the top teams in the Premier League, as Tottenham were interested earlier. The North Londoners wanted to sign him and reunite Gray with his older sibling Archie, but the teenager has since signed a new deal with the Yorkshire club.

Leeds United are eager to help Gray with his development arc and are willing to sanction a loan exit in January. The idea is to let him join a team that can offer the 17-year-old wonderkid regular minutes in his preferred centre-forward role.

EFL teams keen to sign Harry Gray

Clubs like Hull City, Derby County, and Charlton Athletic are all keen to sign Gray in January, which could allow the young star to gain regular minutes. There might be a case to argue that Farke could have used him in his first team set up, but that might resemble a risk given the pressures of survival. Moreover, Leeds United are in the market for a new striker to address their lack of goals, with recent links to Irish hero Troy Parrott.

Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Garcia is also a target, with Leeds United reportedly plotting a permanent move for the Spanish striker. However, he might be only available on loan as the La Liga giants feel he has a future at the Bernabeu. Hence, for someone like Gray, it might be a difficult task to break into this team in the current moment, as a loan exit would be suitable for his growth.
