Chelsea interested in signing Murillo in January

Chelsea have looked vulnerable defensively this season, and they are looking to improve in that area of the pitch by signing Murillo from Nottingham Forest.

The 23-year-old defender is highly rated in the Premier League, and he has impressed with his performances. The Brazilian has the potential to develop into a top-class defender, and the move to Chelsea could be ideal for him.

Joining a bigger club could help him improve further. He would get more exposure, and European football could help him improve further.

Former Premier League scout Mick Brown has revealed that Chelsea have the player on their radar, and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal across the line. It will be an expensive acquisition. Nottingham Forest will not want to lose one of their best players easily.

Murillo has done a really, really good job for Forest,” Brown told Football Insider.

“He was a big part of their success last season, but it hasn’t quite clicked for him or for them this season so a few questions might start being asked.

“Chelsea need a centre-back, they’re not good enough at the back to challenge for the title.

“They are aware of that and it’s something they’re going to look at in January, because they’ve suffered a lot of injuries already this season.

“Murillo of course will be on their radar, he has been for a while because he’s been fantastic for Nottingham Forest, and they’re not the only club looking at him.

“If Forest continue to struggle, they could look to take advantage of that situation to tempt him away.

“I think he’d certainly be an improvement on what they’ve got currently, the likes of [Trevoh] Chalobah and the rest of them who’ve been called upon.

“If it’s a deal they think can be done, then it wouldn’t surprise me to see them make a move, because I’m told he’s definitely somebody they’re looking at.”

Chelsea could use someone like Murillo

Chelsea have recently won a couple of trophies, and they will look to build on them. They will look to fight for league titles, and they need quality players. Improving defensively will be a top priority for them. The Brazilian could solve most of their defensive problems. He is young enough to improve further, and he has all the tools to develop into a top-class player for the club in future.

Arsenal and Barcelona have been linked with the defender as well. Chelsea should look to move quickly in order to win the race for his signature.
