Mike Maignan appeared very close to leaving AC Milan very early in the summer window, when Chelsea were in advanced talks with AC Milan before the Club World Cup. Despite deep discussions between the two sides, they could not agree on a fee, with the Blues reportedly only a few million Euros apart from what the Italian giants wanted.
In theory, the decision to continue at AC Milan has worked so far, with Massimiliano Allegri’s side currently leading the Serie A standings. No decision has been made so far, with the goalkeeper likely to make one before the current campaign ends, as trophies are key for AC Milan to stand a chance of keeping him.
Mike Maignan’s current deal expires next summer, which is why many clubs explored the opportunity to sign one of the top-rated keepers in the world on the cheap. Having signed from LOSC Lille in a €15 million deal back in 2021, the France international could now have a choice of clubs to choose from next summer, as there was another addition to his suitors.

However, they are not alone in the race, as Chelsea are still considered the strongest contender for the €15 million AC Milan star. Manchester United are also reportedly interested in Mike Maignan, and any move from them will depend on how their goalkeeping situation has evolved over the course of the current season.
