Paris Saint-Germain will not entertain bids to part ways with 21-year-old Portuguese international Joao Neves amid his links with Manchester City.
According to a report by Football Insider, Joao Neves is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Citizens are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder in the next two transfer windows. So, the 21-year-old Paris Saint-Germain sensation has emerged as a target for the Premier League club.
However, “as a result of his crucial role in Luis Enrique’s team, PSG are reluctant to see him leave” and will not entertain any “formal approach” from Manchester City. So, the Premier League club must look elsewhere to secure a midfield reinforcement.
Joao Neves and his soaring stock
Joao Neves has established himself as one of the best players in the world since joining Paris Saint-Germain from SL Benfica over a year ago. The 21-year-old did not take long to establish a foothold at Parc des Princes, quickly becoming a pivotal figure for PSG under the tutelage of Luis Enrique.
The Portuguese international has made over 50 appearances thus far for PSG while chipping in with ten goals and ten assists. Meanwhile, the young midfielder’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Manchester City will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature next year.
Will Manchester City sign Neves?
Joao Neves has been on Manchester City’s radar for a long time. The continued interest is understandable, considering Bernardo Silva faces an uncertain future at the Etihad after entering the final 12 months of his contract. The former Benfica prodigy has been with Manchester City for nearly a decade, and he has entered the final 12 months of his contract.
Recent reports have suggested that Silva may leave Manchester City next year. However, with Pep Guardiola installing the long-serving playmaker as the club captain, it will not be surprising to see City vying for his extended stay. Nevertheless, Neves is a viable target for Manchester City, as he can be a like-for-like replacement for Silva.
However, PSG will not entertain any bids to part ways with Neves, and they will reject all “formal approaches” from Manchester City for the youngster. So, the 21-year-old Portuguese international is not going anywhere anytime soon.
