Chelsea rival Manchester United in chasing Bosman move for Dusan Vlahovic

Chelsea will reportedly compete with Manchester United to sign 25-year-old Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic in a Bosman move next summer.

According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Dusan Vlahovic is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing another striker next summer despite landing Joao Pedro and Liam Delap a few months ago. So, the 25-year-old Juventus striker has emerged as a target for the West London club.

The Serb is also a target for Manchester United, and having entered the final 12 months of his contract with Juventus, he may be available for a Bosman move next summer. The Serie A giants are struggling, as Vlahovic’s €12 million-a-year wages are a “burden” for them.

Dusan Vlahovic and his enticing contract situation

Dusan Vlahovic has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Juventus from Fiorentina in January 2022. The 25-year-old was among the most promising young strikers in Serie A when he moved to the Allianz Stadium three and a half years ago. However, the player has not been at his best for much of his spell with the Bianconeri.

The Serbian striker improved in the 2024/25 season, and he has started the new campaign well, amassing four goals and one assist in five outings thus far. However, Vlahovic faces an uncertain future at Juventus, as he has entered the final 12 months of his contract with the Serie A club. The situation has piqued the attention of several bigwigs, including Manchester United and Chelsea.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Widespread reports linked Dusan Vlahovic with Chelsea in the summer transfer window before a deal failed to materialise. The continued interest is perplexing, considering the West London club signed Joao Pedro and Liam Delap a few months ago. Enzo Maresca also has Marc Guiu as a long-term option, and it is baffling that Vlahovic is a target for Chelsea.

As for Manchester United, the Red Devils also mulled over a summer move for the 25-year-old Serb before a deal failed to materialise. However, unlike Chelsea, Manchester United’s continued interest makes sense, considering Joshua Zirkzee’s long-term future at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Vlahovic’s €12 million-a-year wages may be a “burden” for Juventus, but Chelsea and Manchester United should have the financial capacity to afford the 25-year-old Serb’s salary. It will be interesting to see if the Serbian striker seals a Bosman move to the Premier League next summer.
