Tottenham Hotspur may revive the efforts to sign 21-year-old Brazilian international Savinho from Manchester City in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Savinho has been the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites were eager to reinforce their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window after parting ways with Son Heung-min. So, the 21-year-old Manchester City whizkid was a target for the North London club.
However, a summer move did not materialise, as Manchester City did not intend to part ways with the South American winger in the transfer window. But that has not ended Tottenham’s interest, and the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners are mulling over reviving the move in January.
Savinho and his Manchester City journey so far
Savinho has made considerable progress since joining Manchester City from Troyes last summer. While the 21-year-old can improve his goalscoring displays, his creative output has been impressive during his stint with Manchester City. The highly-rated winger has amassed three goals and 13 assists in 48 appearances thus far for Manchester City.
Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has helped him break into his national side, and he has turned out 13 times thus far for Brazil. Meanwhile, the Brazilian winger’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Tottenham Hotspur attempted to sign the player from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
Will Tottenham return with a bid this winter?
Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Savinho made sense. The Lilywhites combed the market for a wide attacker in the summer transfer window after parting ways with Son Heung-min. Additionally, Richarlison faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after struggling to make his mark in his first few seasons at the North London club.
However, while Richarlison has turned things around, Tottenham could not sign a long-term replacement for Son. So, the Manchester City whizkid was a viable target for the North London outfit. However, with Manchester City not facing any financial issues had they kept the young winger, a move did not materialise.
Meanwhile, Manchester City set a price tag of around £69 million to thwart Savinho’s prospective suitors. However, that did not deter Tottenham, and the North London club may return with an improved bid when the transfer window reopens in a few months.
