West Ham United considering Aleix Garcia swoop

West Ham United will reportedly look to sign 28-year-old Spanish international Aleix Garcia from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Aleix Garcia is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a dynamic midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, the 28-year-old Bayer Leverkusen star has emerged as a target for the East London outfit.

While Graham Potter and West Ham liked Jacob Ramsey, the Aston Villa utility man is on the cusp of joining Newcastle United. However, the former Chelsea manager is also an admirer of Garcia’s ability, with the Spaniard not on any club’s radar in the summer transfer window.

Aleix Garcia and his Bundesliga journey so far

Aleix Garcia has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Bayer Leverkusen from Girona in a deal worth €18 million last summer. The 28-year-old arrived in the Bundesliga with a skyrocketing reputation after an exceptional spell with Girona, having established himself as one of the best midfielders in La Liga.

The Spanish international has turned out nearly 50 times thus far for Bayer Leverkusen while chipping in with five goals and four assists. However, Garcia’s spell with the Bundesliga giants may end in the summer transfer window, with West Ham United keen on securing his services this month.

London calling?

West Ham United mulled over signing Aleix Garcia last summer before a deal failed to see the light of day. The continued interest is understandable, considering Carlos Soler and Guido Rodriguez failed to make their mark in the 2024/25 season. While Soler has returned to Paris Saint-Germain after a dreadful loan spell, Rodriguez faces an uncertain future at West Ham.

Additionally, Tomas Soucek, James Ward-Prowse, and Edson Alvarez face an uncertain future at the London Stadium. So, West Ham must sign a midfielder this summer, with Garcia emerging as a viable target. However, it is unclear if the East London outfit will launch a bid to secure the 28-year-old Spaniard’s services in the summer transfer window.

While other midfielders are on West Ham’s wishlist, Garcia should be a top-notch addition to the midfield unit at the London Stadium. It will be interesting to see if the Spanish international ends his spell with Bayer Leverkusen after only one season.
