Newcastle United, Leeds United, and West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing 28-year-old Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk from Serie A club AS Roma this summer.
According to a report by Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Artem Dovbyk is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are scouring the market for a striker this summer and have set their sights on the Ukrainian international. However, an update by La Roma 24 has claimed that Leeds United and West Ham United are also keen on the AS Roma centre-forward, with the Serie A club demanding €40 million to part ways with him.
Artem Dovbyk and his situation
Artem Dovbyk has seen his stock drop since joining AS Roma from Girona last summer. The Cherkasy native arrived at Stadio Olimpico amid hype and fanfare surrounding him after being instrumental in Girona’s shock UEFA Champions League qualification in the 2023/24 season. However, he has not been as influential for the Serie A club.
The 28-year-old has still managed a decent tally of 17 goals and four assists in 45 appearances thus far for AS Roma. However, Dovbyk faces an uncertain future at the Serie A club this summer, with the Giallorossi keen on signing Nikola Krstovic. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian striker’s stock in the market is high, with Leeds United, Newcastle United, and West Ham United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
A man in demand
Leeds United can do with a striker in the summer transfer window, even though they have signed Lukas Nmecha. Patrick Bamford has no future at Elland Road, and Mateo Joseph is eager to return to Spain amid his links with Real Betis. So, Dovbyk has emerged as a viable target for Leeds United.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United’s interest in Artem Dovbyk is understandable. The Magpies are scouring the market for a striker this summer amid uncertainties surrounding Alexander Isak’s long-term future. Benjamin Sesko and Yoane Wissa have emerged as top targets, but Newcastle United may face an uphill task to land them. So, Rodrigo Muniz has emerged as a fallback option, with Dovbyk also an option worth considering.
As for West Ham United, Niclas Fullkrug and Evan Ferguson failed to make their mark for the East London outfit in the 2024/25 season. The latter is no longer at West Ham after his loan stint ended, and he has joined AS Roma, which impacts Dovbyk’s situation. So, the former Girona striker is a viable target for West Ham.
Meanwhile, the Serie A outfit will demand around €40 million to part ways with Dovbyk in the summer transfer window. AS Roma’s asking price makes the 28-year-old Ukrainian international an appealing target, but it is unclear if Newcastle United, Leeds United, and West Ham United are ready to pay €40 million to secure his services.
