Jorrel Hato closing in on sealing £35 million move to Chelsea, personal terms agreed

Chelsea are closing in on a £35 million move for Jorrel Hato, with the player agreeing on personal terms and pushing for a transfer.

According to Sebastien Vidal, Jorrel Hato is expected to join Chelsea and has been closing in on a move to the London club. The Blues are expected to pay £35 million for the Ajax star, who has been pushing for a move in the background and has already agreed on personal terms.

Chelsea have shifted their focus to their defence after making a host of attacking signings this summer. The Blues have continued on their ambitious march to get a solid enough squad in place before the start of the new season.

Enzo Maresca had wanted a competitive cover for the left side of his defence. Marc Cucurella and Levi Colwill are the current first-choice starters there, and with UEFA Champions League football set to return to Stamford Bridge, the manager would need options to rotate either of those stars.

The pursuit of Jorrel Hato represents a smart move to cover for either of those positions, with the 19-year-old Dutch wonderkid equally capable of playing left-back and as a central defender. He can provide Chelsea with the defensive versatility they probably lack on the left-hand side.

The Blues are advancing for Hato, and it appears the Dutchman is close to joining them in a £35 million deal from Ajax. Moreover, the player has reportedly asked to leave the Eredivisie giants to some extent force a move to Chelsea, as the reasons for his doing so are unclear at this moment.

Chelsea are on the verge of Jorrel Hato signing

Chelsea had to beat competition from Arsenal and others to get ahead in the race for Hato. As per TBR Football, the Dutch defender has agreed on personal terms with the Blues, with the move inching closer by the day towards a conclusion.

The £35 million fee mentioned also represents immense value for money for such a promising star. Given the level of competition and interest from rival clubs, Chelsea are certainly getting a top deal for Jorrel Hato, and for Ajax, this is a similar transfer in terms of the fees compared to former star Jurrien Timber when he left for Arsenal in 2023.
