Chelsea will reportedly demand around £20 million to part ways with 30-year-old English international Raheem Sterling in the summer transfer window.
According to an update by French journalist Sebastien Vidal, Raheem Sterling has no future at Chelsea. The Blues are ready to part ways with the struggling attacker in the summer transfer window, hoping to get his £325,000-a-week wages off their books. The West London outfit will demand around £20 million to sell the English international after his disastrous loan spell with Arsenal.
Raheem Sterling and his plummeting stock
Raheem Sterling has reached another crossroads in his career, which has been a regular occurrence in the last few years. The Englishman was on top of the world during his spell with Manchester City, winning almost every trophy while often scoring goals for fun.
However, the 30-year-old has been on a downward spiral since leaving Manchester City, even though he showed flashes of brilliance in his first two seasons with Chelsea. The West London club loaned Sterling to Arsenal on the deadline day of last summer’s transfer window, and he endured the worst campaign of his storied career in the 2024/25 campaign.
The English international managed only 1,143 minutes of game time across 28 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal while producing a paltry tally of one goal and five assists. So, it is hardly surprising that Sterling has returned to Chelsea, with Arsenal identifying Noni Madueke as his compatriot’s replacement.
What next?
The situation has left Raheem Sterling in a spot of bother, as he has no future at Chelsea. The Blues are keen on cutting their losses on the experienced attacker and getting his £325,000-a-week wages off their books. However, the player’s market has significantly dried up, and he barely has any suitors in England.
Sebastien Vidal has suggested that the Englishman wants to join another Premier League club, preferably in London. In addition, Sterling does not want to join a club in the Saudi Pro League or MLS. However, that has further reduced his market, with his £325,000-a-week wages a stumbling block.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will demand around £20 million to part ways with Sterling in the summer transfer window. Recent reports have linked the 30-year-old English international with Besiktas, and playing under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may bring the best out of him.
