Arsenal will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Spanish defensive prospect Cristhian Mosquera from La Liga club Valencia in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by The Guardian, Cristhian Mosquera is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a versatile centre-back in the summer transfer window. So, the 20-year-old Valencia defensive prospect has emerged as a target for the North London club.
The Premier League giants have already failed with a bid worth £16 million to sign the Spaniard from Valencia in the summer transfer window. However, Arsenal will soon present an improved bid to secure Mosquera’s services, and they are hopeful of sealing the deal in the coming weeks.
The rapid rise of Cristhian Mosquera
Cristhian Mosquera has established himself as one of the best young prospects in La Liga since breaking into the first-team squad at Valencia CF. A native of Alicante, the 21-year-old spent his formative years in Spain, passing through the academies at SCD Carolinas and Hercules CF before graduating from Los Che’s youth division.
The Spanish defensive prospect has already turned out nearly 100 times thus far for Valencia while chipping in with one goal. In addition, he achieved success in international football last year by winning the gold medal with Spain at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, Mosquera’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including Arsenal.
London calling?
Arsenal’s interest in Cristhian Mosquera is understandable. While Mikel Arteta has several centre-backs in his squad, Jakub Kiwior will likely depart from the Emirates in the summer transfer window. In addition, the constant interest in William Saliba means Arsenal might need a long-term replacement if the French international leaves.
So, Mosquera has emerged as a viable target for Arsenal, although the Gunners have failed with an opening bid worth £16 million to secure the Spaniard’s services. However, the North London outfit will return with an improved offer to sign the Valencia defensive prospect, and they are confident of sealing the deal.
Recent reports have claimed that personal terms are not an issue for Mosquera, with the 21-year-old Spanish defensive prospect keen on joining Arsenal in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if the Olympic gold medalist moves to the Emirates soon.
