Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly look to sign 29-year-old Uruguayan international Miguel Merentiel from Boca Juniors in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Miguel Merentiel is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 29-year-old Boca Juniors centre-forward has emerged as a target for the North London outfit.
Who is Miguel Merentiel?
Miguel Merentiel has established himself as one of the most productive strikers in South America since joining Boca Juniors from Palmeiras. The South American behemoths initially signed the Paysandu native on loan in February 2023 before completing a permanent move nearly 12 months later.
The 29-year-old has enjoyed a solid start to the 2025 season, contributing to 11 goals in 1,146 minutes of game time across 23 appearances in all competitions by finding the back of the net eight times and providing three assists. Merentiel has also made his mark at the FIFA Club World Cup, scoring in the 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Merentiel’s progress at Boca Juniors has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing the Uruguayan international, with Tottenham Hotspur among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Miguel Merentiel is understandable. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window but want to sign a player who can also reprise roles on the flanks amid uncertainties surrounding Richarlison’s long-term future. In addition, Alejo Veliz will likely embark on another loan move this summer.
The highly-rated striker wants to return to his homeland by rejoining Rosario Central, although he may have to wait for the move. So, Tottenham must sign a striker in the summer transfer window, as he could share game time with Dominic Solanke or usurp him if the Englishman struggles again next season.
