Arsenal will reportedly look to sign 19-year-old Dutch wonderkid Jorrel Hato from Ajax in the summer transfer window amid his links with Chelsea and Liverpool.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Jorrel Hato is the subject of interest from Arsenal. Chelsea and Liverpool are also keen on signing the Ajax wonderkid in the summer transfer window. However, the Gunners are eager to beat the competition to the Dutchman’s signature, with the Eredivisie giants demanding £40 million to part ways with him.
The rise and rise of Jorrel Hato
Jorrel Hato has seen his stock skyrocket in the last few years, with the Dutch defensive sensation becoming one of the most highly sought-after players in the market less than two seasons after breaking into the first-team squad at Ajax. The teenage prodigy has become a mainstay at the back for his club and country, even though he is still in his teens.
The 19-year-old has already turned out over 100 times thus far for Ajax while chipping in with four goals and nine assists. Meanwhile, Hato’s exploits for his club and country have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the youngster, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool vying for his signature.
A man in demand
Chelsea will dip into the market for a centre-back in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile. In addition, the West London club might cash in on Trevoh Chalobah despite a solid second half of the 2024/25 season. So, Hato has emerged as a viable target for Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in Jorrel Hato is understandable. The Merseyside club should plan for life after Virgil van Dijk, even though he has signed a new contract at Anfield. In addition, Andrew Robertson has blown hot and cold in the last 12 months. So, the Dutchman can also be a solution in the left-back berth.
As for Arsenal, Hato can be a long-term left-back solution for the North London club amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Takehiro Tomiyasu. So, the 19-year-old Dutch defensive sensation is a viable target for Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Ajax will demand £40 million to part ways with Hato, with Arsenal determined to beat the competition to his signature. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea and Liverpool can block Arsenal from landing the Dutchman.
