Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool vying for Daizen Maeda

Premier League giants Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are all keen on signing Celtic attacking mainstay Daizen Maeda.

According to a report from TBR, Daizen Maeda could be heading to the Premier League this summer thanks to his impressive performances for Celtic this season. Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all scouted him and are keen on acquiring his services.

Maeda joined the Scottish giants back in 2022 from Yokohama F. Marinos and he hasn’t looked back since. The 27-year-old winger seems to have taken his game to another level this season. He has featured in a total of 47 and has contributed towards 44 goals (33 goals, 11 assists).

His impressive performances have put him on the radar of quite a few top clubs. While the Japanese international prefers playing on the left flank, he can feature in a more central role as well as up top. His current deal with Celtic runs until the summer of 2027 but the club are looking to offer him a new deal as they look to to secure his long-term future.

While Brendan Rodgers has suggested the club is open to contract renewal talks, the player may be inclined to seek a move to a bigger club amid interest from several English giants. Having impressed at Celtic Park, there is interest in his services from Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool and his future might be away from Glasgow.

During an interview with Sky Sports, Maeda suggested that he is not really sure what the future holds for him when he was asked if he saw Celtic as his long-term destination.

He said via TBR: “Well, I’m not sure. That’s a difficult question.

“While I’m here, I always want to fight and play for Celtic. I want to keep focusing and playing for the team.”

Maeda to move to the Premier League?

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all watched the 27-year-old forward in action this season and it’s hard to imagine that he hasn’t had a positive impact on them given the kind of form he has been in.

The Gunners want to further bolster their attack. They are looking for more quality as well as depth on the left flank and Maeda could certainly help their cause. Meanwhile, Chelsea could be in the market for a new winger as Joao Felix’s future is up in the air and Mykhailo Mudryk is unlikely to return from his ban anytime soon.

While Liverpool already have a lot of options in the wide areas, there is uncertainty around the future of Darwin Nunez and Luiz Diaz. If either of them does leave the club, the Japanese international could be a handy replacement.

Maeda is expected to be available for a fee of around £25 million, which surely won’t be a problem for any of the three clubs. As a result, it will be interesting to see if they do make a move.
