Aston Villa are seen as the front-runner to land Sverre Nypan in the summer ahead of Arsenal, with the player impressed by the club’s plans for him.
According to Give Me Sport, Sverre Nypan could soon be heading to the Premier League as Aston Villa are the current front-runner for the Norwegian talent. The 18-year-old Scandinavian wonderkid has seemingly been persuaded to move to the Midlands owing to the plan the club have put forward with Arsenal trailing in the race.
Sverre Nypan was a big subject of discussion in the latter stages of the winter transfer window. The Norwegian talent and his representatives took several meetings with many clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester City, and it appears Aston Villa were also in the mix then.
Manchester City were hopeful of beating Arsenal, as they had set sights on Nypan to have a pathway to the main team by joining Girona first. The Gunners were considered very close to cracking a deal with the 18-year-old wonderkid, although the teenager decided to stay put at Rosenborg and begin the new Norwegian season with them.
He is expected to make the move to the Premier League in the summer, and Aston Villa have held advanced talks for the teenager. Unai Emery has been taking a personal interest in his development, and the club have put forward a plan that reportedly suits Sverre Nypan.
Nypan reportedly feels the pathway at Aston Villa will help him secure first-team action faster than other suitors. Aston Villa and Arsenal had made offers for Nypan recently, as the Gunners also tried to use Norway captain Martin Odegaard in talks to secure the 18-year-old Scandinavian wonderkid.
Aston Villa to win Sverre Nypan race
Aston Villa under Emery have thrived on the balance of using experienced and young players alike, as some of the development of upcoming stars may have attracted Nypan. Aston Villa are currently in front of the queue for the 18-year-old Scandinavian wonderkid, and Arsenal are trailing them.
Signing Sverre Nypan will be seen as a top move from Aston Villa given players of his age and Ilk have been rather expensive in the current market. Whether he grows into the player everyone expects him to be remains the question, although he could certainly have a better chance of climbing the first-team ladder faster compared to other suitors.
