Nottingham Forest want £100 million to sell Morgan Gibbs-White amid Liverpool, Manchester City links

Premier League high-flyers Nottingham Forest will reportedly demand a nine-figure fee to sell Morgan Gibbs-White amid his links with Liverpool and Manchester City.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Morgan Gibbs-White is a target for Liverpool and Manchester City. While Nottingham Forest would prefer not to part ways with the English international, they have set an asking price of £100 million to ward off suitors in the summer transfer window.

The rise of Morgan Gibbs-White at Nottingham Forest

Morgan Gibbs-White has established himself as one of the best playmakers in the Premier League since joining Nottingham Forest from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2022. The Englishman could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the Molineux, and his impact at Nottingham Forest has left many bewildered as to why that happened.

The 25-year-old has played his part in Nottingham Forest’s ascent in the last two seasons, with the Tricky Trees one of the favourites to clinch a top-five finish in the Premier League this term. Gibbs-White has contributed to 14 goals in 27 Premier League outings, finding the back of the net five times and providing nine assists.

Meanwhile, Gibbs-White’s exploits for Nottingham Forest have helped him break into his national side, and he made his senior bow for England in last month’s international break. In addition, the English international’s progress has piqued the attention of several Premier League bigwigs, with Liverpool and Manchester City among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Liverpool’s interest in Morgan Gibbs-White is understandable. The Reds need an injection of creativity heading into the 2025/26 season as they brace for Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure as a free agent. So, the Nottingham Forest playmaker has emerged as a viable target for Liverpool.

As for Manchester City, Kevin De Bruyne will depart from the Etihad in the summer transfer window, leaving a gaping hole in the midfield unit. So, the Citizens need a new playmaker, with the Nottingham Forest mainstay an option worth considering. However, the Tricky Trees do not want to part ways with the 25-year-old Englishman and have set an eye-watering £100 million as his asking price.

Recent reports have claimed that Gibbs-White remains committed to Nottingham Forest, which should boost the Premier League high-flyers’ prospects. However, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool and Manchester City are ready to cough up £100 million to sign the English international in the coming months.
