Premier League heavyweights Chelsea are reportedly tracking the progress of 22-year-old French midfield prospect Dilane Bakwa at Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg.
According to a report by German outlet Fussball News, Dilane Bakwa is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the RC Strasbourg midfielder. Meanwhile, the Ligue 1 club will demand around €30 million to part ways with the French prospect.
Who is Dilane Bakwa?
Dilane Bakwa has established himself as one of the best young prospects in Ligue 1 since joining RC Strasbourg from Girondins Bordeaux in August 2023. A native of Creteil, the Frenchman spent his formative years in his homeland, passing through the academies at FC Boissy and US Lusitanos Saint-Maur before graduating from the youth division at Girondins Bordeaux.
The 22-year-old has not looked back since joining RC Strasbourg, going from strength to strength in the last two seasons. Bakwa has been exceptional this term, contributing to 12 goals in 24 Ligue 1 appearances, finding the back of the net four times and providing eight assists.
Meanwhile, Bakwa’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. A move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Chelsea eager to sign the French midfield prospect from sister club RC Strasbourg in the summer transfer window.
London calling?
Chelsea’s interest in Dilane Bakwa is understandable. The Blues are combing the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo have been exceptional for the West London club, while Romeo Lavia should be a long-term solution in the middle of the park. However, several midfielders face an uncertain future at Chelsea.
The West London club might part ways with Carney Chukwuemeka, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Lesley Ugochukwu in the summer transfer window. So, several candidates, including Boubacar Kamara, have emerged on Chelsea’s radar, with Bakwa also a viable target.
The 22-year-old French midfield prospect will not cost a bomb, with RC Strasbourg demanding around €30 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if the youngster moves between sister clubs in the coming months.
