Aston Villa and Manchester City have joined Manchester United in the race for Roger Fernandes, with Chelsea making an offer in January.
According to O Jogo via Sport Witness, Manchester United faces intense competition from the likes of Aston Villa and Manchester City in the chase for Roger Fernandes. The Braga winger was also on the list of other English sides, with Chelsea making an offer in the January window.
Braga are bracing for offers to come in for their 19-year-old winger Roger Fernandes after a host of clubs made proposals around the January window. The Portuguese club’s president reportedly wanted €20 million for the winger in the winter market, and now wants €30 million to sell their rising star who has a €40 million release clause in his deal.
A host of Premier League teams are vying for his signature including Manchester City and Aston Villa. The duo are eager to tie up the talented winger early as they see a big upside to his future considering how important he has been for Braga at this early stage of his career.
Aston Villa and Manchester City are only the latest to join in the race as a host of clubs were keen back in January. As per O Jogo via Sport Witness, Chelsea even made an offer for the 19-year-old Portuguese prodigy in the winter window.
Chelsea have a wide network to search for the best young profiles in the world, as the club are probably still in the mix for Fernandes ahead of the summer. However, there are doubts whether they will make a move for the Braga winger given they have already agreed on a move for Sporting CP’s Geovany Quenda who is set to arrive in 2026.
Manchester United leading the race for Roger Fernandes
Manchester United wanted Quenda before Chelsea swooped in, as Ruben Amorim was keen to add a player of his profile to his system at the club. The Red Devils now view Fernandes as an alternative to the Sporting CP star and are somewhat in the lead for the 19-year-old Portuguese prodigy.
Manchester United must make a swift decision in their efforts to sign Fernandes, although there will be some negotiations with Braga on the asking price. The report does state a €30 million asking rate ahead of the summer, but they reckon €20 million or slightly more can get the deal done.
